Universities have many honor societies and scholarship opportunities available for students who achieve good results. Many universities have special advanced programs available for students who graduated at the top of their preparatory school classes. Students who maintain a high grade point average may be eligible for tuition discounts and academic scholarships, while students who are athletically gifted can explore the availability of athletic scholarships. University students who excel in the college classroom and in the athletic arena are often recognized by university newspapers and yearbooks, and during commencement ceremonies. This recognition is a major source of inspiration to students as they leave university life to concentrate their efforts on building their careers.
